WHAT IS THE CATRINA FASHION CONTEST?
The Catrina Fashion Contest is a community participation experience celebrating the artistry, elegance, and cultural traditions of Día de los Muertos.
The experience recognizes creativity, craftsmanship, cultural appreciation, and artistic expression while welcoming participants of all experience levels.
Individuals, couples, families, and participants accompanied by a dog are invited to register and become part of this signature 10th Anniversary celebration.

One registered Catrina or Catrín accompanied by one costumed dog.
Community Recognition recipients will be honored during the 10th Anniversary Scottsdale Día de los Muertos Fiestas, recognized on the festival’s main stage, and featured at the head of the Community Procession Parade.
Dog Participation Policy: This category is exclusively for participants accompanied by a dog. For the comfort and safety of all guests and participants, no other animals or pets are permitted in the Catrina Fashion Contest.

Whether this is your first Catrina or you have celebrated Día de los Muertos for years, we invite you to become part of a growing tradition that celebrates remembrance, artistry, family, and community.
There is no single way to interpret La Catrina. We welcome presentations inspired by traditional elegance, regional customs, historical influences, contemporary artistry, and personal creativity, provided they respectfully honor the spirit and traditions of Día de los Muertos.

WINNER EXPERIENCE
FIRST PLACE PRIZE — THE CATRINA FASHION CONTEST
Every First Place Winner of The Catrina Fashion Contest will receive an exclusive Gus Mejia Arte Experience Photoshoot with acclaimed Día de los Muertos photographer Gus Mejia Arte.
Each winner will also receive a commemorative, professionally printed canvas portrait, personally signed by Gus Mejia — a lasting keepsake celebrating their winning Catrina or Catrín look and their participation in the 10th Anniversary Scottsdale Día de los Muertos Fiestas.
