In 2025, Scottsdale Día de los Muertos Fiestas presented Danza de Muertos, a special performance by Grupo Folklórico Huey Colhuacán. This featured event celebrated Mexican heritage through folkloric dance, vibrant costumes, music, and a moving tribute to the spirit of Día de los Muertos.
This archived performance brought culture, tradition, and remembrance to the stage in Scottsdale as part of the festival’s ongoing celebration of art and community.

In 2024, Scottsdale Día de los Muertos Fiestas welcomed Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company for Danza de Muertos, a vibrant performance celebrating the richness of Mexico’s regions through dance, music, art, and culture.
The performance honored the origins of Día de los Muertos while showcasing colorful costumes, powerful choreography, and the beauty of Mexican folk traditions.
The 2024 celebration also included free community experiences such as art installations, altars and ofrendas, the Procession “Desfile de los Muertos,” and the Fiesta de Muertos at Scottsdale Civic Center.

Based out of Los Angeles, California Gus Mejia is an award-winning internationally recognized photographer that showcases distinctive and captivating Dia de Los Muertos imagery.
His widely known unique Catrina-Fashion pictorial style portraits and vivid colors are instantly recognizable. Theatrical staging compositions, cultural celebratory narratives, dramatic lighting, and stillness are all things that can be easily spotted across his body of work.
Through a partnership with Lore Media and Arts & Scottsdale Dia de Los Muertos, Gus Mejia will be this year’s featured Artist through an elaborate in in-depth Photo Exhibition celebrating the release of his new book comprised of Catrina portraits and Dia de Los Muertos iconic imagery. Many of his works will be on display at the Old Adobe Mission intermixed with the annual Oaxacan-inspired Altares y Ofrendas Art Installations Experience.
