A Signature Community Experience of the Scottsdale Día de los Muertos Fiestas

Created in celebration of our 10th Anniversary, The Catrina Showcase invites individuals, couples, and families to become an active part of one of Arizona’s premier Día de los Muertos celebrations through creativity, artistry, and cultural expression.

Inspired by the timeless elegance of La Catrina, this experience honors one of Mexico’s most beloved cultural symbols while celebrating the traditions, stories, craftsmanship, and community that make Día de los Muertos such a meaningful and vibrant celebration.

Whether you are honoring the memory of a loved one, celebrating your family’s heritage, expressing your artistic vision, or experiencing Día de los Muertos for the first time, we invite you to join us in creating an unforgettable celebration where culture, community, and creativity come together.

His passion for celebrating the artistry and beauty of Día de los Muertos has inspired audiences throughout the United States and Mexico. Together, we look forward to welcoming artists, families, creators, and cultural enthusiasts who share a passion for preserving and celebrating this treasured tradition.

THE EXPERIENCE

WHAT IS
THE CATRINA SHOWCASE?

The Catrina Showcase is a curated community participation experience celebrating the artistry, elegance, and cultural traditions of Día de los Muertos.

THIS IS NOT A TRADITIONAL COSTUME CONTEST.

The experience is designed to recognize creativity, craftsmanship, cultural appreciation, and artistic expression while welcoming participants of all experience levels.

Individuals, couples, and families are invited to become registered Showcase Participants and take part in one of the Scottsdale Día de los Muertos Fiestas’ new signature experiences.

Community Recognition recipients will be honored during the 10th Anniversary Scottsdale Día de los Muertos Fiestas, recognized on the festival’s main stage, and featured at the head of the Community Procession Parade.

Whether this is your first Catrina or you have celebrated Día de los Muertos for years, we invite you to become part of a growing tradition that celebrates remembrance, artistry, family, and community.

There is no single way to interpret La Catrina. We welcome presentations inspired by traditional elegance, regional customs, historical influences, contemporary artistry, and personal creativity, provided they respectfully honor the spirit and traditions of Día de los Muertos.

The Catrina Concierge will help participants prepare for the Showcase by providing information and referrals for:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When will registration officially open?

Registration dates will be announced through our website and social media channels.

Is Showcase participation limited?

Yes. To preserve the quality of the experience, participation will be intentionally limited. Once capacity is reached, registration will close.

Can children participate?

Absolutely. Families are encouraged to participate together, and children may be included under the Family Registration category.

Can I create my own Catrina design?

Yes. We welcome traditional, historical, regional, and contemporary artistic interpretations of La Catrina that respectfully honor the traditions and spirit of Día de los Muertos.

What if I need help with my attire or makeup?

The Catrina Concierge will provide information and referrals for professional Catrina makeup, wardrobes, flower crowns, and select accessories.

Are prizes guaranteed?

Community Recognition recipients will receive official festival recognition. Additional opportunities will be announced only after community partnerships are finalized.
